Saturday 9th May at The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival 2026

Fern Britton
Sadly, today is the last day of the du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival, but I think we can all agree it has been a great success, with a terrific range of events for everyone.
Today, the morning starts at 11 am in Fowey Town Hall with Liz Fenwick and Emma Cowell in conversation about their latest novels. They will share insights into their writing journeys, the inspiration behind their books, and explore the themes of love, relationships, and personal discovery. Dubbed the queen of the contemporary Cornish novel by The Guardian, Liz Fenwick’s new novel is called Flora’s Day. Emma is based in Greece, the source of inspiration for all her novels. Her new book is called Beneath the Orange Blossom.
In the early afternoon, join award-winning author Eleanor Anstruther as she presents her new book, Fallout, a vivid coming-of-age novel rooted in the Greenham Women’s Peace Camp. The story follows Bridget as she steps into a world of activism, self-expression, and unexpected love. Eleanor has created a story that offers an event rich in insight, history, and storytelling brilliance.
Later in the afternoon, join Alison Weir as she introduces her forthcoming novel, The Boleyn Secret. The book explores the life of Katherine Carey, niece of Anne Boleyn, and considers how family ties, court politics and hidden histories shaped her world. The Boleyn Secret is published later this month. However, the Festival audience will have the chance to purchase early copies of this book, available exclusively at this event, before the official release date.
The early evening, and the final Festival event for this year, is led by much-loved broadcaster and bestselling novelist Fern Britton. She will be talking about her new book, A Cornish Legacy. Warm, witty and full of heart, her latest novel returns to the rugged beauty of Cornwall, where family secrets, second chances and the pull of home collide. In this special event, hear about the inspirations behind the story, the characters who refused to let her go, and why Cornwall continues to shape her writing. Expect charm, insight and plenty of Fern’s trademark humour as she brings her fictional world to life.
