Tuesday 5th May at The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival 2026

Serena Trowbridge DduM 2026

Serena Trowbridge

Today begins with the Creative Writing Workshop – How to Write a Bestseller.  The event takes place in Fowey Parish Hall at 10 am.  In this entertaining two-hour workshop, author Veronica Henry shares the secrets of writing a bestseller from the first lightbulb moment to the final flourish.

During the morning, there is another opportunity for lovers of Daphne du Maurier's works to join Chrissie Le Marchant on a guided walk through Daphne du Maurier's Fowey.

Later in the morning, transformational coach and founder of Going Coastal Blue, environmental advocate Lizzi Larbalestier, introduces her new book, The Healing Power of Water, an inspiring exploration of how our relationship with water can restore balance, resilience and wellbeing in our lives.

Next, enjoy a wonderful lunchtime recital by Truro School's hugely talented A-level musicians at Fowey Parish Church.

At 4pm, in Fowey Town Hall, Serena Trowbridge presents her talk, The Poetry of Daphne du Maurier.  One hundred years ago this year, the young Daphne du Maurier set out in verse what she anticipated to be the life of a writer, a life she was about to embark on herself, at the age of 19.  This poem was called The Writer, and throughout her life, Daphne continued to write poems, many of which remained unpublished.  Working with published, unpublished, and fragmentary poems, Serena's talk explores the significance of her poetry and looks at themes shared with her fiction.

Today's early evening event is Veronica Henry and Jennie Godfrey – You are All Invited.  This is an invitation that must be accepted, as the Festival welcomes back Jennie and Veronica to discuss their new novels, The Barbeque at No. 9 and The Invitation

To round off the day, what could be more fun than an evening of comedy with the Kernow King?  This is a must-see event for anyone who loves a good laugh and loves Kernow.
