Sunday 3rd May at The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival 2026

Daphne du Maurier walking across the land surrounding Kilmarth
Today begins with the Strands of Time Guided Walk, which takes walkers to Par and Tywardreath following in the footsteps of Daphne du Maurier's novels The House on the Strand and Rule Britannia.
Later in the morning, Lord Peter Ricketts delivers the first talk of the day, which takes place in Fowey Town Hall. The title of Lord Peter's new book is Peace Makers – Shaping the Modern World: The Men and Women of the Foreign Office in WWII. He talks with Iain Dale about his book, which is a gripping account of the British diplomats who quietly shaped the course of the Second World War and the peace that followed.
In the afternoon, join Harriet Tyce, criminal barrister turned Sunday Times bestselling author and popular star of BBC's The Traitors, for a gripping conversation about life in the courtroom, on reality TV, and inside the dark worlds she creates in her books.
Later in the afternoon, Sarah Vine is in conversation with Iain Dale. They will be talking about her book How Not to Be a Political Wife, and discussing what it was like to be at the centre of political life during a defining time in modern Conservatism.
For the early evening event, Nicholas Crane will be in conversation with Petroc Trelawny as he takes us on a fascinating journey into the hidden history of Britain's footpaths, inspired by Nicholas's new book, The Path More Travelled. Nicholas is probably best known for presenting the BAFTA-winning series Coast.
At 8pm in Fowey Parish Church, your Sunday evening entertainment will be a fabulous evening of Jazz. One of Britain's finest jazz pianists, Craig Milverton, returns to the Festival for an evening of Swing and Soul. He is joined by his acclaimed daughter, Eleisha May, on vocals, his son, Ben Milverton, and musicians Tom Hill and Nick Millward.
