The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival 2026 begins today, Friday 1st May

The Overtones
The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival 2026 takes place from today, Friday 1st May, until Saturday 9th May. Events will include walks, reading groups, talks, music, a quiz, and much more, with a glittering array of writers, politicians, musicians, and others arriving in Fowey to capture your interest and entertain you all.
The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival begins this evening with two fantastic events.
At 6pm, in Fowey Town Hall, Sir Jeremy Hunt will be joined by broadcaster and Festival Patron Iain Dale for a wide-ranging conversation about Jeremy's new book 'Can We Be Great Again? Why a Dangerous World Needs Britain', which explores Britain's place on the global stage at a moment of profound geopolitical change. This event offers an opportunity to hear two seasoned political observers discuss the forces reshaping the world and the choices that will define Britain's future role within it.
Then, at 8pm, in Fowey Parish Church, the Festival welcomes the return of The Overtones, as they present their fabulous opening night concert. There are still a few tickets available for the Overtones, so don't miss this great evening of wonderful music.
Throughout the coming week, there is a wonderful programme of events, put together for you by Festival director, Brenda Daly. To see the full programme and to book your tickets, either go to the du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival website, here: https://www.foweyfestival.com. Or you can pick up a festival brochure at the Festival Box Office, located in the Royal Fowey Yacht Club, where you can, of course, also buy your tickets. Brochures will also be available at other locations around the town.
Also at the Royal Fowey Yacht Club, you will find the Waterstones Festival Bookshop, and you will be able to enjoy coffee and cake, teas, light snacks and meals.
Taking place during the week is the Fowey Art Trail. A leaflet listing exhibitors and a map to locate them will also be available at the Festival Box Office, at various locations around the town, and at the art exhibitions themselves.
Louisa Albani's beautiful artwork for her Daphne du Maurier-inspired pamphlet, House of Dreams, will be exhibited at The Old Bank, and you will be able to buy the pamphlet there during the Festival.
Anika Manuel's wonderful collection of paintings of Daphne du Maurier heroines will also be exhibited at The Old Bank throughout the festival.
Louisa and Anika's artworks, although very different to each other, are both absolutely beautiful, great tributes to Daphne du Maurier, and definitely worth going to see.
