The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival - Saturday 17th May

Sadly, today is the last day of the du Maurier Fowey Festival, but I think we can all agree that it has been a great success and there have been a wide range of fabulous events, with something for everyone.

At 4pm in Fowey Town Hall, Dr Patrick Newberry returns to present his talk, The Country Houses of Cornwall and the Great Cornish Families.  Pat recently published The Country Houses of Cornwall, and today he will be talking about how the powerful families that built and lived in these houses shape the history of Cornwall.

John Suchet

John Suchet

John Suchet presents the last event of the festival at 6pm in Fowey Town Hall.  His talk, In Search of Beethoven – A Personal Journey, is also the title of his book.  In this very personal quest, John will tell us the story of how Beethoven’s music has accompanied him throughout his life, from an adventure-loving teenager to an intrepid journalist in civil war-torn Beirut.
