The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival - Thursday 15th May
Dr Ella Westland
Today, the du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival begins its morning at 9.30am in Fowey Parish Hall, with Ella Westland’s reading Group on My Cousin Rachel. This is certain to be a lively and interesting discussion because there is always much doubt about Rachel and whether she was good or evil. Even Daphne du Maurier was not sure and left the ending of the novel for people to make up their own minds!
Nicholas St Aubyn
At 11am in Fowey Town Hall, Nicholas St Aubyn presents a talk about his new book, Saints and Sinners, in which he reveals the remarkable truth about a single family negotiating a thousand years of history, facing trials and triumphs that shaped Britain.
Jennie Godfrey
The afternoon events begin at 2pm in Fowey Town Hall with Jennie Godfrey talking about her book The List of Suspicious Things, her debut novel, which became a Sunday Times top ten bestseller in 2024.
Phillip Marsden
At 4pm in Fowey Town Hall, Phillip Marsden returns to the festival to talk about his thought-provoking book, Under a Metal Sky: A Journey Through Minerals, Greed and Wonder.
Joanne Harris
Then at 6pm, in Fowey Town Hall, internationally acclaimed author Joanne Harris discusses her new novel, Vianna, which is a prequel to Joanne’s wonderful and hugely successful book, Chocolat.
