The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival - Wednesday 14th May
Today, we have another super line-up of events at the du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival.
Kate Aspengren
The day begins at 9.30am in Fowey Parish Hall when Kate Aspengren will lead this morning's reading group on Daphne du Maurier's last novel, Rule Britannia. This remarkable book has become highly relevant in recent years, firstly during Brexit and more recently with the political situation in the US.
Natasha Solomons
The first talk in Fowey Town Hall is at 11am, when Natasha Solomons is in conversation with Patron Kate Williams about Natasha's latest book, Cleopatra, a powerful retelling of the life of one of the most captivating and misrepresented female figures in history.
Tim Hubbard
The afternoon events begin in Fowey Town Hall at 2pm, when Tim Hubbard presents a talk on his book, Secret Gardens of Cornwall.
Merlin Hanbury-Tenison
In Fowey Town Hall at 4pm, Merlin Hanbury-Tenison talks about his new book, Our Oaken Bones. Merlin and his wife return from London to his childhood home in Cornwall. And discover that their woods are one of the UK's last remaining fragments of Atlantic temperate rainforest.
Helen McGinn and Veronica Henry
At 6pm in Fowey Town Hall, Helen McGinn and Veronica Henry combine a talk about their latest books with a wine tasting. Books and wine – what could be better!
Company B
This evening's entertainment takes place in Fowey Parish Church at 8pm. Today, it is Company B, a renowned jump jive band hailing from sunny Cornwall.
