News of filming locations for Netflix Rebecca

News of locations where filming is taking place for the new adaptation of Rebecca is beginning to come through.  Filming will take place in the UK and France, and we understand that Hatfield House is to be the location for Manderley.

Hatfield House, Hertfordshire

Hatfield House is a very beautiful stately home in Hertfordshire described as one of the Treasure Houses of England.  It is the family seat of the Cecil family and was home to the nineteenth century, three times Prime Minister, Robert Arthur Talbot Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury.  Further back in history, the Old Palace on the same site was owned by Henry VIII and used as a nursery for his three children.  It is said that, in 1558, Queen Elizabeth I was sitting under an oak tree in the Hatfield parkland when she learned of her succession to the throne of England.

Hatfield House is a popular choice for film makers and is close to Pinewood, Leavesden and Elstree studios, with their excellent production facilities.  Most recently part of the film The Favourite, starring Olivia Colman, Rachel Weiss and Emma Stone was filmed there.

Hartland Quay, North Devon

Cast and crew will be on location in Devon in early July.  Filming will take place on four days between Monday 1st and Thursday 11th July at the picturesque Hartland Quay in North Devon, during which time some areas will be closed to the public.  For specific details about closures click here https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/filming-netflix-blockbuster-rebecca-close-3020128
