Art at St John’s, Bodinnick 10th – 17th May 2025

St John's Bodinnick art exhibition

This beautiful poster was designed by Hazel Bryer

As many of you know, during the du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival, there is a fabulous art trail that takes place in various locations around Fowey, Polruan, and Bodinnick.  A programme of participants and a map showing the locations of the various exhibitions are available to download from the Fowey Festival website here: https://www.foweyfestival.com/art-trail/.  During the festival, you will also be able to pick a copy up at the Festival box office, in shops and at the venues.

We would encourage you to take the car ferry (you can go as a foot passenger) across to Bodinnick to visit the Art at St John’s exhibition.  St John’s is a small chapel with a capacity for about 30 people.  It is one of the most unusual churches in the Diocese of Truro, being a chapel of ease in the Parish of Lanteglos by Fowey in the Benefice of Trelawny.  It is a converted stable block given to the village by the owner of the Ferry Inn in 1947.  It has a lovely garden.

St John’s is straightforward to find.  When you get off the ferry, walk up the hill, passing the du Maurier Browning family home, Ferryside on your right, and you will come to it, just at the beginning of the Hall Walk.

A number of artists, sculptors, potters and jewellery makers exhibit and sell their work at St John’s during the festival, making it a hugely enjoyable experience.  The garden is also worth a visit as part of the Secret Gardens event.
