Daphne du Maurier and the poet William Butler Yeats
Daphne du Maurier was a great fan and admirer of the poet
W.B. Yeats. She and her son, Kits du
Maurier Browning, made a film about him to celebrate his centenary in 1965 and
she always loved the Yeats poem He Wishes
for the Cloths of Heaven.
Kits has given us this beautiful photograph that he took of Fowey harbour from Ferryside. He thinks the words of the poem work well with this picture. We agree and think Daphne would have loved to see the words of one of her favourite poems overlaying one of her favourite views.
