A group of celebrated writers and critics gather for a celebration of one of the masters of 20th-century suspense: Daphne du Maurier. They are National Book Award Winner Joyce Carol Oates, The New York Times Book Review's Sadie Stein and The New Yorker's Rachel Syme.
In a celebration of du Maurier's career and the publication of After Midnight, hear Oates, Stein, and Syme discuss the magnetic allure of du Maurier's tales and her outsized impact on literary and cinematic suspense – stories piercing to the dark heart of obsession, mysticism and human frailty.
