The Daphne du Maurier Society of North America has announced its events for the Fall and Winter 2025.

The next meeting is the 2025 Short Story Study, at which the Society celebrates Daphne du Maurier's short story, The Birds.  Society member Ted Elrick will travel to Dallas to lead the discussion.

The Birds was Ted's favourite Hitchcock movie growing up, and he will provide his perspective on the short story, the changes Hitchcock made, and why.

Ted is a freelance writer and an active member of the Writers Guild of America, the Writers Guild of Canada and the Mystery Writers of America.  He is a graduate of the American Film Institute Center for Advanced Film Studies and a former long-time editor of the Directors Guild of America's magazine.  He has a long list of publications and screenplays.

This event takes place on Saturday, 11th October from 12.30pm – 2.30pm at 5214 Palomar Lane, Dallas, TX 75229.

Tea will be served.

The December event will be the Daphne du Maurier Society of North America's annual Christmas in Cornwall Luncheon (held in Dallas, Texas, rather than Fowey, unfortunately).

It will feature Professor Margaret Mitchell, who will travel to Dallas to provide an in-depth discussion on The King's General.  This is Daphne du Maurier's classic historical novel, which takes place during the English Civil War and explores the passionate love between Honor Harris and Richard Grenville in a tale woven with tragedy and hope.

This event takes place on Saturday, 6th December 2025, Noon - 2:30 pm

Luncheon will be served.

Event location - The Melrose Hotel, The Bridwell Suite - Second Floor, 3015 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas, TX 75219.

Luncheon and valet parking costs will be covered by the Society.

Guests are welcome.  Event limited to 22.

Society members will be notified in due course if these meetings are available via Zoom.
