The Mischief Makers by Elisabeth Gifford, a novel about Daphne du Maurier and J.M. Barrie, now out in paperback
The paperback edition of The Mischief Makers
We first told you about The Mischief Makers by Elisabeth Gifford when it was published in hardback last autumn. This exciting novel has been described as a reimagining of the life of Daphne du Maurier and her curious association with J.M. Barrie, and tomorrow, 7th August 2025, it is published in paperback.
The relationship between J.M. Barrie and Gerald du Maurier and his family, as well as the one between J.M. Barrie and Gerald's sister, Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, her husband and their five sons, has long been something of an enigma, discussed in a number of biographies.
In The Mischief Makers, Elisabeth Gifford brings us a fictionalised account of these relationships. If you haven't already read it, do get the paperback; you'll be glad you did.
