Another Greetings card inspired by Daphne du Maurier

Amanda White's new 'Ferryside' greetings card

Amanda White has created a second greetings card inspired by Daphne du Maurier.  This time it is an image of Ferryside, the du Maurier Browning family home in Fowey.  This beautiful waterside house was bought by Daphne du Maurier’s father, Gerald, nearly a hundred years ago, and members of the family have lived there ever since.  Daphne completed her first novel, The Loving Spirit, there as well as poetry, short stories and her third novel, The Progress of Julius.

We told you about Amanda’s first du Maurier-related card back in September 2021, when she produced her image of Daphne and a sailing ship representing The Loving Spirit.

Amanda White's 'Ferryside' card during the process of being made

Amanda uses a form of incredibly delicate collage to create her cards.  Each picture is built up using tiny pieces of coloured paper, usually taken from old magazines.  This painstaking work takes many hours to create an image such as this one of Ferryside.  Over time, Amanda has built up a fantastic range of cards.  This one forms part of her collection based on Writers Houses.  But her range of cards is vast and definitely worth looking at.

Amanda’s work is available from her company Amanda White Designs, on Etsy.  Click here to find out more.
