Favourite First Lines article in student newspaper includes Rebecca

Palatinate, the award-winning official student newspaper of Durham University, was founded in 1948 and is one of Britain’s oldest student publications.  The paper is published on a fortnightly basis, reaching student readers at colleges across Durham.  Its Editorial Board is made up of full-time Durham students working to produce a professional-quality newspaper.  It includes arts and features supplement Indigo, which offers comprehensive coverage of cultural events in Durham, with sections including Fashion, Visual Arts, Books and Music.

In time for the start of a new academic year, four students tell Indigo about their favourite openings to popular novels.  The novels they have chosen are The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (2011), Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (1938), Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie (1990) and Beloved by Toni Morrison (1987).

Here at the Daphne du Maurier website, we are always pleased to see evidence that Daphne du Maurier’s writing remains as popular as ever.
