Rebecca musical to have English language premiere in London in September 2023
Towards the end of last year, we told you that Rebecca the Musical was coming to the UK at last. The show’s English language premiere takes place at the Charing Cross Theatre, London, on Monday, 4th September 2023 and runs until 18th November. If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to book your tickets.
As most of you will already know, the musical is based on Daphne du Maurier’s 1938 novel Rebecca and tells the story of a young woman who marries a wealthy widower, only for the new husband’s past to come to haunt the couple.
The musical production was first staged in the German language in Vienna in 2006 and then toured in many countries worldwide, most recently returning to Vienna in September of last year. Plans for an English language version of the show had been made several times over the years, with hopes of performances on Broadway and the London Stage, but these have always been thwarted. Famously, tickets even went on sale on Broadway for a 2013 show before plans were scrapped.
So, it is with immense joy we can confirm that the long-awaited English language premiere will be performed at the Charing Cross Theatre, London, on 4th September 2023, directed by Alejandro Bonatta, and featuring an eighteen-piece orchestra.
