It has been a fantastic week at the Fowey Festival! All of us at the Daphne du Maurier website were delighted to see that Daphne's works were at the heart of the Festival programme this year. The 'Rook with a Book' Sculpture unveiled in Fowey to launch Fowey Festival 2018 Programme

On March 19th at 2pm in Berrills Yard in Fowey, the new sculpture nicknamed 'the rook with a book' was unveiled by Daphne du Maurier's son Kits Browning. The sculpture of a bird holding a book was inspired by Daphne du Maurier's 1952 short story 'The Birds' and is the first public monument to her work. The unveiling of the sculpture also launched the Fowey Festival 2018 programme.... More ››

On 19th March at 2pm at Berrills Yard, Fowey, the new sculpture inspired by Daphne du Maurier's short story 'The Birds', will be unveiled by Daphne's son, Kits Browning. The sculpture is a celebration of Daphne du Maurier's work and her importance in Fowey, and it will launch the 2018 programme for the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature. Fowey Festival Competitions inspired by Du Maurier, closing dates 16th March

The Fowey Festival 2018 is running two competitions inspired by du Maurier. The theme for the Young Writers and Artists competition is 'THE BIRDS' and the theme for the Adult Short Story competition is 'DON'T LOOK NOW'. Du Maurier is still such an inspiration for creative writers and artists in the twenty-first century. We look forward to reading and viewing the winning entries! The image was inspired by Daphne du Maurier and features birds, books, and the du Mauriers' first and iconic home in Fowey, Ferryside.
