Review of the Fowey Festival 2018
It has been a fantastic week at the Fowey Festival! All of us at the Daphne du Maurier website were delighted to see that Daphne's works were at the heart of the Festival programme this year. Thank you to the Festival director, Brenda Daly, the Festival board and all the speakers who worked so hard to bring us a wonderful selection of du Maurier events- and thanks to all of the many du Maurier fans who joined us to share their knowledge and passion. The 2018 Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature starts today! Du Maurier artwork 'the rook with a book' on ITV News West Country
The unveiling of the new public artwork in Fowey to celebrate the work of Daphne du Maurier was featured on ITV News West Country this week. The sculpture was unveiled by Daphne's son Kits Browning and has been nicknamed 'the rook with a book'. The artwork was unveiled to launch the Fowey Festival programme for 2018. Daphne du Maurier inspired artwork by Helen Williams to be exhibited at Fowey Festival
Wonderful original paintings by Fowey artist Helen Williams will be on display during the Fowey Festival as part of the Fowey Art Trail. Helen painted the cover image for this year's Festival programme and she has produced a series of five amazing paintings inspired by Daphne du Maurier's works. The 'Rook with a Book' Sculpture unveiled in Fowey to launch Fowey Festival 2018 Programme
On March 19th at 2pm in Berrills Yard in Fowey, the new sculpture nicknamed 'the rook with a book' was unveiled by Daphne du Maurier's son Kits Browning. The sculpture of a bird holding a book was inspired by Daphne du Maurier's 1952 short story 'The Birds' and is the first public monument to her work. The unveiling of the sculpture also launched the Fowey Festival 2018 programme.... More ››
Invitation to the Unveiling of the BIRD Sculpture on 19th March
On 19th March at 2pm at Berrills Yard, Fowey, the new sculpture inspired by Daphne du Maurier's short story 'The Birds', will be unveiled by Daphne's son, Kits Browning. The sculpture is a celebration of Daphne du Maurier's work and her importance in Fowey, and it will launch the 2018 programme for the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature. Fowey Festival programme is launched, featuring many Du Maurier events
On Friday the programme for the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature 2018 was launched. We are delighted to see a wide range of du Maurier-related events, including a celebration of 'Rebecca at 80', guided walks, reading groups, and talks by a number of du Maurier experts. Fowey Festival Competitions inspired by Du Maurier, closing dates 16th March
The Fowey Festival 2018 is running two competitions inspired by du Maurier. The theme for the Young Writers and Artists competition is 'THE BIRDS' and the theme for the Adult Short Story competition is 'DON'T LOOK NOW'. Du Maurier is still such an inspiration for creative writers and artists in the twenty-first century. We look forward to reading and viewing the winning entries!
