Fowey Festival Book Sale in Honour of Collin Langley 10th – 18th May 2024
We are pleased to be able to tell you that the du Maurier-related archive of the late Collin Langley is being sold to raise funds for the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature during the festival this year, from 10th – 18th May.
Collin Langley, who sadly died last year after a long illness, was a du Maurier expert and enthusiastic supporter of the Fowey Festival. To find out more about him, please go to this link here at the Daphne du Maurier website: https://www.dumaurier.org/menu_page.php?id=219.
The book sale will take place daily throughout the festival at the Royal Fowey Yacht Club. You will find Collin’s books alongside the Fowey Festival box office and information desk and Waterstones Festival bookshop.
There is a broad mix of books, including Daphne du Maurier’s novels, biographies and short stories, biographies of Daphne by a number of different authors, books by and about Angela du Maurier, Gerald du Maurier and George du Maurier, as well as some lovely books about Fowey and Cornwall. The collection includes some books which are very difficult to find now. Books can be mailed out to you (by second-class mail) if you are unable to attend the festival. Details of how to order are at the beginning of the catalogue.
Friends of the Festival will be able to buy books a week ahead of everyone else, starting on Friday 3rd May.
Many of the books contain Collin’s notes and annotations.
We thank Collin’s wife, Marge and his son and daughter, Ian and Kim, for their generosity in giving Collin’s books to the Fowey Festival and agreeing that they sell them to raise festival funds.
